USB thumb drives, memory flashes, disks or cards are different names for the same kind of data storage devices that allow the safe, easy and quick transfer and transport of data between various USB appliances, usually computers or hard drives. USB thumb drives require no power supply to support their memory and they are totally re-writable. You don’t have to restart the computer to get access to the files on the memory card: USB thumb drives are plug and play devices. The name of USB thumb drives comes from the small size of the storage devices that are usually not larger than a human thumb.
